Mission & Vision

One mission, a long-term horizon.

To preserve, document, digitize, promote and transmit Moroccan heritage in all its dimensions, and to make it accessible to present and future generations.

Mission

Our mission

To preserve, document, digitize, promote and transmit Moroccan heritage — written, oral, spiritual, intellectual, artistic, artisanal and living.

Vision

Three horizons

In Morocco

To become a recognized reference in the preservation, digitization, promotion and transmission of heritage: a serious, dignified and useful institution that builds bridges between heritage holders, families, zawiyas, researchers, libraries, universities, public institutions and new generations.

Internationally

To be a credible partner for major libraries, research centers, heritage institutions, universities, cultural foundations and international organizations working on Morocco, North Africa, the Islamic world, the Amazigh world, Mediterranean history and the diasporas.

In the long run

To offer a Moroccan — and, in time, pan-African — model of alliance between heritage, digital technology, research, transmission and cultural influence.

Our values

What guides us

01

Transmission

The Foundation exists first and foremost to transmit — to present and future generations.

02

Preservation

It is urgent to protect what is fragile, dispersed or under threat of disappearing.

03

Knowledge

Heritage must be documented, studied, understood and shared with rigor.

04

Moroccan identity

The Foundation is rooted in the historical, cultural, spiritual and civilizational depth of Morocco.

05

Responsibility between generations

We have a duty to receive, protect and pass on what has been handed down to us.

06

Dialogue of cultures

Moroccan identity was built through the meeting of many heritages: Arab, Islamic, Amazigh, Saharan-Hassani, Andalusi, African, Hebraic and Mediterranean.

And, running through them all: dignity — in the way we speak of heritage, families, holders and collective memory.

Areas of action

A long-term commitment

Heritage is not preserved in the urgency of short cycles: it requires constancy, rigor and a responsibility fully assumed towards the generations to come.

  • Preservation and documentation of written, oral and living heritage
  • Digitization and development of digital heritage tools
  • Support for research and researchers
  • Cultural and educational programs
  • Festivals, events and outreach initiatives
  • Institutional, academic and cultural partnerships
  • Publications and the promotion of knowledge

The memory of Morocco is a shared responsibility.

Institutions, researchers, families, heritage holders, partners: the IRFAN Foundation welcomes your message.
